Many businesses and nonprofits run events and scheduled activities as part of doing business. Locable's local calendaring features make it easy to add powerful calendars to any website and promote your events and/or events from others in the community that you support.
Locable's calendar support events, classes, meetings and deadlines as well as self-updating (automated) community calendar elements to help you cross-promote automatically.
If you haven't already, you'll want to enable Content and the Events module - it's free.
Start by Creating a Calendar
Click Local Connections > Community Embeds > Calendars then click Add New Calendar.
You can choose everything from the default view, the types of events you want to include, and even if you want to show your content, content from other organizations your support or both!
You can also decide what types of events to feature including:
- meetings (new as of 1/22/21)
- and deadlines.
Once created, you can add the calendar to your website.
If you use Locable's web builder you can add it by going to the page you'd like it to appear and clicking on the Feed Content option then selecting Calendar.
If your website is on another platform, you can copy the embed code we create and paste it where you'd like it to appear.
Alternatively, many businesses with a website hosted elsewhere would prefer to create a "microsite" using Locable's technology to live alongside their primary site to get more powerful options and more search engine benefits.
Contact if you need assistance with any of these options.
Posting Events and Promoting Your Activities
Posting events is fast and easy with our simple events form. To ensure reliable event data we require things like a title, description, location, and time and make other fields also available such as an image, price, link (to buy tickets etc) and more.
Simply click Event from the quick content bar at the top to post.
Update 1/22/21: you can now post meetings to create meetings-only calendars or exclude meetings from other calendars.
Once you select your type of event you quickly add the rest of the event details in the form.
You'll notice events, like all content types, have an Advanced option. We recommend you set the OG Image and Description in the advanced settings to improve sharing to social media. You can add other optional data as well.
Pro-Tip: Create recurring events and clone similar events to save time.
When published, your event will appear in a mobile and search optimized way.
